Meet Miss Gabi

Gabi grew up in a small town in Massachusetts, but developed a strong desire to explore different cultures from a young age. Fascinated by education for development, Gabi studied in American University’s Global Scholars program, graduating in 2016. She spent the 2016-2017 academic year as an English and cross-cultural communication lecturer in Yogyakarta, Indonesia in Gadjah Mada University's vocational school, where she found a passion for teaching. Now as a Global Playground Teaching Fellow she will work in schools in Vietnam, the Philippines, and Cambodia to promote cross-cultural understanding and community development. Follow her journey as she immerses herself in her new host communities and helps to unlock her students' full potential!

About Global Playground

Global Playground’s mission is to raise awareness and share resources with people of the developing world to create educational opportunities where they do not exist. Each year they send Teaching Fellows to some of their school sites to introduce cross-cultural programming in partnership with the local community and partner organization. Since the Fellow Program began in July 2010, Teaching Fellows have developed innovative curriculum that is used in classrooms across the world.
